Michel Sleiman: Syrian refugees “major risk” threatening Lebanese social fabric

PARIS: Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said on Wednesday that the world should be aware that the issue of Syrian refugees is a major risk threatening the Lebanese social fabric, The Daily Star reported.

“We are in need of direct support for the country’s ministerial programs aimed at helping the refugees in the fields of education, health and energy,” Sleiman said in a press conference after meeting with French President Francois Hollande as part of talks on helping Lebanon cope with the conflict in Syria.

Sleiman added that there is some one million refugees from Syria in Lebanon.
