CAIRO: French consulate officials left the Cairo International Airport early Thursday after failing to persuade French activists to follow security regulations and leave the country or seek another crossing to enter Gaza because the Rafah crossing is closed.
A security source told Youm7 that the consulate officials spoke to the activists “a lot” but failed to persuade them to leave or to seek another crossing.
The activists are sitting on the ground of the airport. The consulate apologized to the security authorities and left the airport, the source said.
In the meantime, Cairo International Airport authorities are working to provide food and drinks to the activists until the end of the crisis, the source said.
